HAIR CARE GUIDANCE
Definitions
Virgin hair- is a term for hair that has never been chemically processed. Chemically processed hair is hair that has been color treated, permed, relaxed, bleached or dyed. Which is what some companies would consider “virgin hair”. Real virgin hair in today’s market is now defined as hair that has only been steamed processed. Steam processing or steaming allows for the creating of those hot exotic and unique curl patterns.
Raw hair- is single donor unprocessed hair. Meaning the hair is cut from the donors head, cleaned and sewn onto the weft. The hair does not go through any chemical processing. The way the hair is cut from the donors hair is the way you will receive it.
Remy hair- is the direction of the cuticle of the hair. The root and tip traveling In the same direction to ensure the cuticle does not tangle.
Weft- collection of hair strands sewn by the manufacturer into a thin material strip.
**When buying hair extensions whether it’s raw or virgin, you have to treat the hair like it is growing out of your own scalp.**
Washing and Deep Conditioning
Washing and Deep Conditioning
You can wash the hair as often as you like but, at least 1-2 times a week is recommended. It’s best to wash any extensions that you’re going to put in your head even if it’s virgin hair. Use a good quality shampoo, and a deep conditioner. Conditioning your hair after you shampoo it, is very important and highly recommended. Moisture is key 🔑 to keep it soft and manageable.
*For curly and wavy hair textures*
Spray bottle of water along with a leave in conditioner is recommended for a natural “wet look”. Spraying your hair with water and adding mousse is another great way to achieve that look. Try to avoid mousse with alcohol in it. Avoid any alcohol based products, so the hair won’t dry. Scrunch up hair gently to reform curls.
- Avoid using heavy oils and styling products.
Detangling/Combing
Comb through the hair with a wide tooth comb starting from the ends, then working your way up to the scalp/weft. Starting from the ends of the hair takes pressure off the weft. This helps with minimal shedding.
Hair Shedding
Like your natural hair, hair extensions can experience shedding. Any hair that is stitched to a weft by the manufacturer is entitled to shed MINIMALLY. This occurs over time as u manipulate the extension. The hair should never have a drastic decrease in its density or volume.
Applying Heat
When using heat styling tools, always use a heat protectant. If possible, let the hair air dry.
Coloring The Hair
You can color the hair, it is 100% unprocessed human hair. It is recommended that you color or process your hair by a professional. Be sure to keep color treated, hair conditioned and moisturized.
When it comes to the 613 (blonde) hair, this hairs a little more high maintenance. Keep in mind anytime you dye your bundles to the color 613 the hair will be fragile and easier to break. Just make sure to keep up on the hydrating and deep conditioning of the hair.
- The hair can last from 6 months to 2 years as long as you keep up with your investment. The better care you take of it, the more you can reuse
